movie posters
Creating a pre-sales movie poster that not only captivates but serves as a powerful marketing tool. A movie poster’s ultimate job is to sell and promote interest in your film. It might not mirror your exact screenplay or film, but I guarantee it will make the viewer want to read or see it.
Headlines or Taglines: Your film needs a compelling headline or tagline to stand out. Crafting a smart, catchy, or intriguing line that positions the film and complements the main image is paramount.
Visual Key Art: Generating original art to visually represent your film, especially in pre-sales campaigns, requires a special skill set. As an experienced illustrator, I create authentic, handcrafted key art that resonates with your audience, even without existing footage or references, and I have access to Envato Elements for many resources licensed for promotional purposes only.
Main Title Design: Your film’s title design carries immense weight in a thumbnail-sized space. It’s not just about typesetting a font—it’s about storytelling.
Naming: A powerful title is the cornerstone of an effective campaign. Everything’s in a name.
Credit Block: The billing block adds credibility. Even without a complete cast, including key production details builds authenticity.
Our extensive background in illustration, compositing, retouching, sketching, and design lets us offer key art solutions by hand. However, using AI has its place in certain circumstances like when working on Animation properties or Decks.
For example, when creating a film poster campaign for a screenplay “animated property” on a budget of less than four or 5k would be next to impossible – AI is the only way forward. But without extensive knowledge in Art Direction, compositing, and retouching, this would also be impossible to pull off professionally. Creating a campaign that looks and feels like a big-budget film would be impossible otherwise. Only under these circumstances and with the client’s approval will we use AI.
A Deck is meant to convey the look and feel of the movie. Many times casting directions are created using AI if nothing is contractual. The Deck is a very forgiving promotional piece for the film and AI here sometimes has its place.
